How do you get to the Hotel Riu Plaza España?

Thanks to its central location, getting to the Hotel Riu Plaza España terrace is very easy! Just a few metres from the hotel is the Plaza España metro stop that connects with the lines 10 and 3. You can also get there by bus (with the lines 001, 133, 146, 2 and 74) or by taxi, and get dropped off right outside the hotel.

Cercanías RENFE has a direct connection with line 8 of the Metro.

✈️ By plane
Madrid's airport is called Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas and is situated in the east of Madrid, around 15 km from the city center. It consists of two separate hubs: the old one contains terminals T1, T2, T3 while the new hub contains terminals T4 and T4S. Metro line 8 connects the airport with the city, ending in Nuevos Ministerios, one of the main metro and Cercanías stations in Madrid. Note that when traveling from and to the airport by metro you need a supplement that can be added to your transport card from the same machines where the card is obtained. Alternatively, taxis have a flat rate from the airport to anywhere in the city center of 33€.

🚆By train

Madrid is connected to many cities in Spain and interationally via high-speed (AVE) trains – please consider traveling environmentally-friendly! The main train stations are Madrid Atocha and Madrid Chamartín, which are both well-connected to the venue via metro, see "How to get to the venue" below.

Within Spain, fast direct connections exist from several big cities in the East and South, such as Barcelona (2.5h), Valencia (2h) and Málaga (3h). From Western Europe, many cities are connected to Madrid by train within a day of travel, via direct or few-changes connections, including:

  • Brussels: 13h, 2 changes

  • Frankfurt: 17.5h, 3 changes (or 2x 7h direct, with an overnight stop in Avignon)

  • London: 15.5h, 3 changes

  • Marseilles: 7.5h, direct

  • Paris: 10h, 1 change

  • Zurich: 16h, 3 changes

These connections often allow for convenient breaks along the way, e.g., for petit déjeuner in France or tapas in Barcelona.
